On the beach, you can find a harbor seal colony with up to 200 seals. At low tide, they rest on the sand, providing a great opportunity to observe these fascinating animals in their natural habitat.

The area surrounding the campsite offers hiking trails for all levels, ranging from easy walks to challenging treks. A 15-minute walk will take you to the ruins of an old farm called Sjöundá. More experienced hikers may wish to take the 90-minute trail to the lighthouse at Skor, which features steep slopes and changes in elevation.

Located in the heart of Rauðasandur near the church at Kirkjuhvammur, this charming coffee house is open during the summer and serves delicious French chocolate cake. We highly recommend sitting down for a cup of coffee while enjoying the views of the Látrabjarg bird cliffs and Snæfellsjökull glacier.
